* Based on the marginal generation displaced in each jurisdiction. Gas generation for Ireland and Spain at 385gCO2/kWh, nuclear generation for France and Sweden at 0gCO2/kWh, biomass generation for Finland at 0gCO2/kWh and coal generation for Germany at 935gCO2/kWh. This approach is the preferred option under Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (‘PCAF’) guidance (‘operating margin’) for measuring carbon avoided and replaces the methodology used in 2022 that applied average grid intensity per region.

Vision

We envision a world powered by clean and reliable electricity, delivered through infrastructure that is resilient, sustainable, and intelligently managed. As stewards of capital, we are committed to driving the energy transition by investing with purpose, unlocking value through operational excellence, and delivering stable, long-term returns. Through strategic deployment of expertise and investment, we aim to shape the future of energy for generations to come.

Our place in the market

The EU’s net zero target is driving the electrification of the grid, with demand for clean energy in Europe expected to quadruple between 2024 and 2030*. Countries and companies are setting their own ambitious targets as they contribute towards this goal.

Growth in the renewables sector is expected to increase exponentially to meet these needs. Supported by advantageous policy and regulatory frameworks, major energy users are leveraging clean energy opportunities like PPAs as they progress their decarbonisation goals.

The long-term capital we provide plays a central role in the transition by providing asset developers with liquidity and certainty.

Introducing Greencoat Renewables

Ronan Murphy

With participation in European renewable energy infrastructure accelerating in order to meet Net Zero targets, the future remains overwhelmingly positive. Greencoat Renewables' high-yielding portfolio, prudent approach to pricing risk, and strong balance sheet provides an attractive, low-risk way of contributing in the energy transition.

Rónán Murphy,
Chair

Since listing in 2017 we’ve executed our strategy successfully to build a well-diversified, cash generative portfolio. The breadth of the assets we view will only expand from here, and the investment opportunity created by the energy transition is immense.

Our portfolio provides a base from which we can assess and integrate emerging technologies at the right time. Wind and solar remain the cornerstones of our approach, but as the market evolves, we’re ready to assess new asset classes as the transition matures.
